Throughout history, the status of women in America has been at the margins of society and the role of women has often been unfairly glossed over in history books. Celebrating Women in American History is a five-volume set that introduces readers to that "hidden" history of women in America, bringing their achievements to light and helping them gain the recognition they deserve. This landmark work pays homage to the many contributions to American society made by women from colonial times to the present. Written in engaging and accessible prose by experts in the field and sprinkled with fascinating boxed features, Celebrating Women in American History presents a diverse and panoramic view of women and their accomplishments in American history.

Volumes in this comprehensive set include:

  • Colonization, Revolution, and the New Republic: Beginnings to 1860
  • Industrialization and Political Activism: 1861 to 1899
  • The Progressive Era and the Great Depression: 1900 to 1937
  • Expanding Social Roles and Postwar Activism: 1938 to 1960
  • Modern Feminist Movement and Contemporary Issues: 1961 to Present.
