About the Author(s)

Jon Erickson has written numerous books on Earth science and geology, many for Facts On File. After serving in the U.S. Navy, he received a B.S. in physical science from Arkansas Polytechnic College and an M.S. in natural science from the University of Arkansas. He has worked as a geologist for major oil and mining companies and as an engineer for an aerospace company. He currently resides in western Colorado, working as an independent geologist and writer.
